Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport sits northwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale, a working general-aviation field with a serious FBO row: Banyan Air Service, one of the largest facilities of its kind in the country, alongside Sheltair and others. Flights arrive here to avoid the commercial sprawl of FLL, and the time saved is squandered if a car is not ready on the other side of the lounge.

Our dispatch watches the tail number from departure. If your G550 leaves Teterboro forty minutes late, the car simply arrives forty minutes later; nobody calls you about it. On landing, the chauffeur is at the FBO entrance with your name or without it, as you prefer. Luggage goes straight from the line crew’s cart to the vehicle.

The geography favors patience done well. Las Olas and the Fort Lauderdale beach hotels are about 8 miles east. Boca Raton runs 20 to 25 minutes north. Miami Beach and Bal Harbour sit 35 miles south, 45 to 60 minutes depending on I-95; for an evening event on the beach we stage with margin and tell you the plan. Palm Beach, 45 miles north, is comfortably within range for dinner.

Yacht owners flying into FXE for vessels at Fort Lauderdale’s marinas will find we already know the dockmaster procedure. Tell us the slip. The rest is handled.
